Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP)
Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP), which was co-created by Richard Bandler and linguist John Grinder in the 1970s, began as a model of how we communicate to ourselves and others which was developed by Richard Bandler and John Grinder. This model explains how we process the information that comes into us from the outside. The belief is that "The map is not the territory." And so the internal representations that we make about an outside event are not necessarily the event itself.
Their initial focus was pragmatic, modeling three successful psychotherapists, Fritz Perls (Gestalt Therapy), Virginia Satir (Family Systems Therapy), and eventually Milton H. Erickson (Clinical Hypnosis), with the aim of discovering the successful patterns of behavior and communication which distinguished these individuals from their peers.
From this Bandler and Grinder developed a set of techniques, which in the early 1980s was heralded as an important advance in psychotherapy and counseling.
I incorporate many of these techniques into every session.
